Themes

The Culinary and Fashion hives are represented through creative themes that support the Luju ethos of ‘A Return to the African Future’, with its signature African Vintage style.
The theme for the 2024 Culinary programme theme is ‘Roots’. This theme explores the foods that keep us rooted in who we are. With a growing interest in conscious healthy diets, Roots showcases plant-based diets and innovative dishes that celebrate food from the soil, particularly embracing heritage plants that have been home staples for centuries. Culinary Hives include a beer garden, premium lounge, wine saloon, taste of Africa, cocktail lounge and a Heritage Food Garden. Vendors are encouraged to serve dishes that are unique, visually attractive and consistently tasty. An understanding of gastronomy and experience in food trading is essential.

This year’s Fashion Hive theme is ‘Afrofuturism. Celebrating the revolutionary power of Fashion, Afrofuturism is a celebratory artistic and cultural movement that embraces African history and heritage. The theme draws inspiration from a variety of sources, including traditional African clothing, futuristic designs, and retro and avant-garde fashion movements.
